33rd Thursday in Ordinary Time

  FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Thursday November 22, 2018 Thirty Third Week of Ordinary Time  WORD of the DAY   As he drew near, he saw the city and wept over it,  saying, “If this day you only knew what makes for peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes”. (Luke  19: 41-42)   How shall I live this Word? Jesus is decisively facing the last part of His mission that the Father had entrusted to Him.  He goes up towards Jerusalem, the splendid city of the grand memories of Israel, but also the ‘den’ of His bitterest enemies.  The Lord contemplates it with deep sadness.  He knows what end the rebellious city will have for rejecting God and the Gospel of Salvation the Father had entrusted to Him.  Jesus knows that He will hang between two criminals on the infamous Cross.  He is innocence personified and He freely accepts to die on the Cross for the salvation of us all.
