SOLEMNITY OF ST. JOSEPH

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Second Tuesday of Lent, March 19, 2019 SOLEMNITY OF ST. JOSEPH WORD of the DAY Now this is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found with child through the Holy Spirit. Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man, yet unwilling to expose her to shame, decided to divorce her quietly. Such was his intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her”. (Matthew 1: 18-21) How shall I live this Word? “When Mary His Mother was betrothed to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found with child through the Holy Spirit”. Only a man of great faith and deep humility could believe with simplicity in a mystery so beyond our thoughts. Joseph was that man.   FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Fifth Monday of Lent, March 19, 2018 SOLEMNITY of SAINT JOSEPH WORD of the DAY  Such was his intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her.  She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins” … When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home.       (Matthew 1: 20-21/24) How shall I live this Word? When we do not know what else to do, if we have the courage to keep the question, hope, and an upright intention open, God comes to meet us with His gifts.  ‘In a dream…’It was in a dream that God met Jacob and reached Elijah.  The dreams speak of what one has inside.  When we are awake, we defend ourselves by censoring what we do not want.  In a dream, instead, all is freely manifested. ...
