Hope fulfilled

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD CHRISTMAS TUESDAY December 29, 2020 WORD of the DAY  Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel,  and the holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Messiah of the Lord. He came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform the custom of the law in regard to him, he took him into his arms and blessed God.   (Luke 2: 25-28) How shall I live this Word?   Simeon is a man who is not living in the past, but is open to the future with joy and availability. His scrupulous observance of the Law does not bind him to human traditions, but impels him towards the future, making him understand that no matter how much good we can do, we are not completely fulfilled here on this earth, but we must desire a path that stretches up to the sky. FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD THIRD WEDNESDAY of ADVENT December 16, 2020 WORD of the DAY  The disciples of John told him about all these things. John summoned two of his disciples and sent them to the Lord to ask, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?”  When the men came to him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to you to ask, ‘Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?’” At that time he cured many of their diseases, sufferings, and evil spirits; he also granted sight to many who were blind. And he said to them in reply, “Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind regain their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the good news proclaimed to them.  And blessed is the one who takes no offense at me.”                        (Luke 7: 19-23) How shall I live this Word?   God is mystery and in the face of this mystery  believers should always question all their ideas about God.
