Third Wednesday of Advent

  FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD December 20, 2017 Third Wednesday of Advent WORD of the DAY   O Key of David and Scepter of the house of Israel, Who opens and no man can shut, Who shuts and no man can open, come and bring forth from his prison house the captive that sits in darkness and in the shadow of death.           (O Antiphon for Gospel Verse) How shall I live this Word? The Lord invoked by the Antiphon as the Key of David is the expected Son, the One who opens the womb of the Virgin Mary without violating it; who opens human life to the experience of salvation.  According to the Hebrew etymology, it is always ‘being in open spaces’, having new horizons in respect to the tight and dark spaces of our ego and of our egoism, until we discover that not even death is a space closed to the presence of the Savior!
