Proclaim Jesus

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD TUESDAY 2 after CHRISTMAS JANUARY 5, 2021 WORD of the DAY   The next day he decided to go to Galilee, and he found Philip. And Jesus said to him, “Follow me.” Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the town of Andrew and Peter. Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one about whom Moses wrote in the law, and also the prophets, Jesus, son of Joseph, from Nazareth.     (John 1: 43-45) How shall I live this Word?   Today’s Gospel underlines the constant reminder of Pope Francis when he indicates the missionary dimension of the Christian: it cannot be proselytism, but only attraction. Today, Philip, accompanying Nathanael to the Master behaves like a friend who wishes to share the newly discovered treasure with the other: “We have found the one about whom Moses in the Law and the Prophets wrote, Jesus, son of Joseph of Nazareth.”  A biblical scholar comments: “Immediately, with enthusiasm, Philip wants to share his discovery with others, so that all can receive its benefits.
