Madly in Love

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD JANUARY 23, 2021 Saturday – Week Two WORD of the DAY He came home. Again the crowd gathered, making it impossible for them even to eat. When his relatives heard of this they set out to seize him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.” (Mark 3: 20-21) How shall I live this Word?   “He is out of His mind.” We can understand this evangelical expression in two ways. A first way highlights the incomprehension of those who live next to Jesus: He is “crazy!” But Jesus is also out “of Himself”. He is continually turned to the life of His brothers and sisters, of each one, especially the suffering, the poor, the least, the rejected. In both cases we can say that people who love are always a bit crazy in the eyes of others. It is the madness of those who have known love and have decided to go out of themselves to love.  It is the logic of the saints.
