Live with Jesus

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD SECOND WEDNESDAY of ADVENT December 9, 2020 WORD of the DAY  Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,* and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.    (Matthew 11: 28-30) How shall I live this Word?   Jesus invites us to go to Him so He can restore us, but then He asks us to take His yoke upon ourselves. For us, finding rest means abandoning all burdens, all commitments, all activities. He urges us to a new activity. How does Jesus make us rest? He asks us to be yoked to Him, to share our efforts and commitments together. The ‘rest’ He offers us comes from sharing everything with Him; it is not ‘doing nothing’, but ‘doing everything together’ with Him. Conversion educates us to conform to His way of feeling, reasoning, acting with meekness and humility. As He sustains us, we too become for others a “place of rest and serenity”!
