MARY MOTHER OF THE CHURCH

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD BLESSED VIRGIN MARY MOTHER OF THE CHURCH June 1, 2020 WORD of the DAY Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. (John 19, 25-27) How shall I live this Word? At the crucial hour of His passion, the Lord Jesus gives us the gift of a presence and awareness; the presence is that of Mary, His Mother who becomes our Mother, Mother of the Church. Along with this great gift of presence, there is the awareness that in the hour of suffering, of pain, we are not alone.
