30th Tuesday of Ordinary Time

  FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD 30th Tuesday of Ordinary Time October 29, 2019 WORD of the DAY    Then he said, “What is the kingdom of God like? To what can I compare it? It is like a mustard seed that a person took and planted in the garden. When it was fully grown, it became a large bush and  the birds of the sky dwelt in its branches.   (Luke 13: 18-19)     How shall I live this Word? Jesus tells us of a person who takes a tiny mustard seed and tosses it in the garden.  That seed grows and becomes a luxuriant bush, able to gather hundreds of birds. Great things always come from what is small, simple, insignificant.  The seeds are there, they seem like nothing, but then they sprout and grow.  How many poor words, perhaps said unawares, have done great good without us knowing it.  How many gestures done superficially or without conviction, have built cathedrals in the hearts and lives of people.  We cannot and should not ever think that what we are living, doing, saying, thinking is useless or meaningless, small or wrong, dull or out of place.  No,...
