29th Thursday in Ordinary Time

  FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Thursday October 25, 2018 Twenty-ninth Week of Ordinary Time  WORD of the DAY   I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing! There is a baptism with which I must be baptized, and how great is my anguish until it is accomplished! (Luke 12: 49-53)   How shall I live this Word? As a saying goes, which many people in San Biagio know: “those who are afire, are alive!”. Half-measures are not valid in love – as in war. Every conscience comes to face a radical choice.   We have the responsibility of choosing our ‘fundamental option’. It is the choice of life, the moment when one becomes ‘great’. Jesus taught us that it is possible to formulate our whole life in reference to an ideal, when this ideal arises from a concretely experienced encounter. We could never get to the point of detaching ourselves from our father, mother, relatives, even from children, if we were not on fire with the effect of that love of the highest degree called the Holy Spirit.
