OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD 27th Wednesday of Ordinary Time OUR LADY OF THE HOLY ROSARY October 7, 2020 WORD of the DAY He was praying in a certain place, and when he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples.” He said to them, “When you pray, say Father, hallowed be your name.” (Luke 11: 1-2a) How shall I live this Word? When you pray, say “Father” because prayer can only be that of children who recognize in the Almighty Lord the Father who gave them life and loves them from eternity. Prayer can only be that of children who know they need a Father who supports them and accompanies them on the roads of life, and they turn to Him with trust and love. Prayer can only be that of children who feel themselves fragile and needy creatures and turn to their Creator in the certainty that He and only He will be able to help them. Prayer can only be that of children who, in the face of difficulties and obstacles, after having done all they could do, curl up on their father’s...

27th Wednesday of Ordinary Time

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD 27th Wednesday of Ordinary Time October 9, 2019 WORD of the DAY He was praying in a certain place, and when he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples.” He said to them, “When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread and forgive us our sins for we ourselves forgive everyone in debt to us, and do not subject us to the final test. (Luke 11: 1-4) How shall I live this Word? After having seen him pray, a disciple asks Jesus: “Teach us to pray”! Who knows how many times he had observed Jesus while He was praying, and how he had been fascinated at seeing His relationship with the Father, to finally ask Jesus this. Jesus accepts this request and introduces the disciples into His dialogue with the “Abbà”. Jesus is the only one who knows the language of the Father because He is the eternal Word. Being able to call God “Father” is the great gift that Jesus gave us. The prayer of Jesus that he...

27th Wednesday in Ordinary Time

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Wednesday October 10, 2018 Twenty-seventh Week of Ordinary Time  WORD of the DAY   He said to them, “When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread and forgive us our sins for we ourselves forgive everyone in debt to us, and do not subject us to the final test”  (Luke 11: 1-4)   How shall I live this Word? Luke placed the teaching of Jesus, not on a hill, during the inaugural speech of Jesus, as Matthew does (Mt 5:1-7,29), but on the way to Jerusalem (Lk 9:51-19, 46), after having Himself prayed (Lk 11:1-4) and after having praised Mary of Bethany for having chosen “the only thing necessary” (Lk 10: 42). That is, Jesus accomplishes what He teaches and teaches what He does: if the only thing necessary is to listen to God, this is the first thing to do. And by teaching His disciples to pray He transformed prayer into an integral element for following Him. If therefore I pray Abba, my most tender Father and of my brothers, if I ask Him to be glorified as He merits and...
