God is all love

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD 33rd Wednesday of Ordinary Time November 18, 2020 WORD of the DAY  I was afraid of you…    (Luke 19: 21) How shall I live this Word?   “Jesus told a parable, because He was near Jerusalem and they thought that the kingdom of God should appear at any moment” (v. 11). The premise that the Evangelist Luke adds to the parable also helps us to enter into it. Jesus is approaching the fulfillment of His passion, through which He will receive universal Lordship from the Father, thanks to His annihilation for love of us. It is a lordship that overturns all our categories and involves us responsibly in a stupendous design of love. Jesus risked everything for us. He did not consider His unique bond with God a treasure to be jealously guarded. And this, because what unites Jesus to the Father is infinite love, free obedience to God’s passion for His lost creatures, who are His dearest treasure (Lk 15: 1-19). A bond that exposes Him to risk everything by ‘going out’.   If we want to follow Him, we must accept, along with His Gift, also to convert ourselves from senseless fears...
