OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD SECOND THURSDAY OF ADVENT OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE – PATRONESS OF THE AMERICAS December 12, 2019 WORD of the DAY   For I am the LORD, your God, who grasp your right hand; It is I who say to you, Do not fear, I will help you.  Do not fear, you worm Jacob, you maggot Israel; I will help you—oracle of the LORD; the Holy One of Israel is your redeemer.  (Isaiah 41:  13-14)   How shall I live this Word? In only two verses, the words ‘do not fear’ are repeated twice. We always have many fears and we are not able to give ourselves security.  We need someone to take us by the hand affectionately, who says to us, “Do not fear.  I am with you, I will not leave you alone, I will remain close to you.”  We do not need to feel alone before the greatness and difficulties of life.  This is why God, in Jesus, becomes human and lives among us.  This is why God, in Jesus, is with us and will never abandon us.  He takes care of us every day. He loves us with a totally...

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD December 12, 2018 OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE  WORD of the DAY   Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,  and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.   (Matthew  11: 28-30)   How shall I live this Word? Those who meet the cold days of the month of March are able to better withstand the rigidity, compared to those – perhaps in the same conditions and at the same temperatures – who face it in November. In fact, the first are supported by the hope that spring is soon coming, with all its relief! What makes the difference for us Christians is precisely the hope that the Lord gives us, with the pledge of a joy that is eternal. This is why even fatigue and oppression, often provoked by the daily routine, melt and lose their burdens if we place them at Jesus’ feet. “Those who hope in the Lord regain strength, have wings like eagles …”, the prophet Isaiah...

OUR LADY of GUADALUPE

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD December 12, 2017 Our Lady of Guadalupe   WORD of the DAY  In just the same way, it is not the will of your heavenly Father that one of these little ones be lost.   (Matthew 18: 14) How shall I live this Word? This is the proclamation made by Jesus for our encouragement and comfort, after narrating the parable of the Good Shepherd who, having lost a lamb, momentarily abandons the other ninety-nine sheep on the mountain.  Probably crossing over cliffs and uncomfortable paths, He goes to search for the lost lamb.  The parable clearly alludes to the ‘little ones’ which the Father does want to lose even one of them. This is so beautiful if I leave aside what I already know and go in depth.  Then I discover that the ‘little ones’ are all of us and in many ways.  Even the great thinkers of every time and culture have negatively judged those who brag about being great and important.  In our era, many scientists, although having made great strides in technological progress, have had to admit that for many things, human fragility is always threatened by sicknesses and calamities...
