First Thursday of Lent

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD First Thursday of Lent, March 14, 2019 WORD of the DAY Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened… If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him”. (Matthew 7: 7-12) How shall I live this Word? Today’s words of Jesus enlighten us regarding what the Father desires of us. If it is legitimate, indeed dutiful, to ask oneself about what others can want from us, even more daring, but essential, is it to ask the same thing about God, and to reach the natural conclusion that what God wants from us is our true good.
