Seventh Saturday of Easter Time

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Seventh Saturday of Easter Time June 8, 2019 WORD of the DAY He remained for two full years in his lodgings. He received all who came to him, and with complete assurance and without hindrance he proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 28: 30-31 ) How shall I live this Word? We are at the end of reading the Acts and we are at the end of Paul’s story. Amid a thousand troubles he arrived in Rome. He arrived there ‘forced’, and not by his own free will, sent by God. He arrived in chains, a prisoner, because the only way to make that journey was to transform the hatred and opposition of his countrymen and coreligionists who accused him and wanted him in jail and dead. Paul is the means by which the Gospel will reach Rome, then the heart of the world. His chains, his body, therefore his intelligence, his words will bring Jesus beyond the geographical and cultural boundaries of Palestine and will give the experience of Christ’s universality.
