Seventh Monday of Ordinary Time

  FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Monday  May 21, 2018 WORD of the DAY   The wisdom that comes down from above is essentially something pure; it is also peaceable, kindly and considerate; it is full of mercy and shows itself by doing good; nor is there any trace of partiality or hypocrisy in it.   The peace sown by peacemakers brings a harvest of justice.    (James 3: 17-18)   How shall I live this Word? In today’s first reading, James speaks to us of true wisdom that comes from God, listing its characteristics of purity, peace, kindness, and consideration, full of mercy.  It shows itself by doing good without partiality or hypocrisy. This is precisely what our world needs today, people of wisdom who show themselves to be such by the good they do with generosity and gratuity.  Are there many?  Yes, and they are abundant!  They are the everyday  people who seek to make the world a more just and humane place by their daily gestures, their daily relationships in the family, at work, in volunteering, in religious life.  They can be found everywhere for the Spirit knows no limitations.  These are the peacemakers who bring about a harvest of justice with their...
