2nd Saturday in Ordinary Time

  FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Saturday, January 20, 2018 Week Two of Ordinary Time   WORD of the DAY  O God, restore us; light up your face and we shall be saved. Stir up your power, and come to save us. O God, restore us;  (Psalm 80) How shall I live this Word? The face of a benevolent person smiles, encourages a child, it seems to really shine.  We have seen this in a baby in its mother’s arms or a very dear person.  Thus, the Psalmist takes up this expressive way of great trust.  The person praying can take the liberty of speaking so confidently with God and of giving the affectionate command, ‘Stir up Your power and come to save us’. In filigree, we see all the angelic hosts with which God erupt into the forces of evil and so, even today, come to save us. He will certainly do it; but what matters is now to look deeply into the history of Redemption. We realize that salvation has already come.
