SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS

  FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Friday June 8, 2018 Week Nine of Ordinary Time          SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS  WORD of the DAY  So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and then of the other one who was crucified with Jesus.  But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs, but one soldier thrust his lance into his side, and immediately blood and water flowed out.  (John 19: 32-34)  How shall I live this Word? The solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus was instituted for God’s glory and also to help us understand the love Christ has for us that led Him to place no resistance to evil, the true evil that His persecutors had decided against Him.  His limitless love urged Him to the full acceptance of the cruel sacrifice on the infamous cross.  Thus, all that historically happened acquires a deep meaning other than that of the events in themselves.
