Fourth Thursday of Easter

  FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Fourth Thursday of Easter, April 26, 2018 WORD of the DAY    Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him.  If you understand this, blessed are you if you do it. (John 13: 16-17)   How shall I live this Word? Having fulfilled the humble sign of the washing of the feet, Jesus punctuates the exemplary nature of his gesture by quoting a well-known proverb, whose most usual form is found in the Gospel of Matthew: “It is sufficient for the disciple to be like his teacher and for the servant as his master “(10:25), thus reaffirming the necessity of being and doing like Him, in humble service to the cause of the Gospel. With a promise: in doing so, you will be blessed! In this affirmation there is all the eruptive power of love, for which it is not enough to adhere to principle.
