SIXTH WEDNESDAY OF EASTER TIME

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD SIXTH WEDNESDAY OF EASTER TIME May 20, 2020 WORD of the DAY “I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. (John: 16: 12-14) How shall I live this Word? There is nothing more ambiguous in our time than truth. Each has their own truth and proclaims it according to their own thought, from every pulpit, lawful and unlawful, of this time that is so social. And then every thought, every idea becomes truth, and it is truer than another according to the approval of ‘likes’ it receives. Truth becomes subjective, it depends on the majority and on a good speaker, capable of propagating anything as absolute truth. There is nothing more false than the truth shouted at the four winds … But what is the truth? The only truth is that which the Holy Spirit will tell us, that which comes from the Father because the Spirit was with...

Sixth Wednesday of Easter Time

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Sixth Wednesday of Easter Time May 29, 2019 WORD of the DAY I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. (John 16: 12-15 ) How shall I live this Word? Not everything can be said, and not everything can be said immediately. The strength of the word can be disruptive, but it needs to find a terrain capable of welcoming it and making it take root. The testimony of Jesus does not find greater efficacy in the signs that He is able to accomplish, but in arousing an internal correspondence in us when the voice of the Master is recognized by a presence that already lives...

Basically, we all have an infinite desire for full truth, complete truth, we could even say absolute truth. We know that it is not possible, but our inner search hides this longing: truth in justice, in relationships, in thoughts, in science, in philosophy, in faith. Today Saint John reminds us of the words of Jesus who announces the whole truth, to which the Spirit guides us. He is not the truth but leads to it. He knows where it is because someone told it to the Spirit Himself. But the Spirit is God and who besides God can do this? A good question. The answer is also to discover in this verse the mystery of the Trinity, of the Community, which is hidden there. The Spirit learns from the Father and...
