ST. JOSEPH SPOUSE OF MARY

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Third Thursday of LENT March 19, 2020 SOLEMNITY OF ST. JOSEPH PATRON OF THE CHURCH WORD of the DAY The angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her. She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1: 20 b-21) How shall I live this Word? Joseph is a figure full of dignity joined to great respect for Mary. An angel came to him in a dream and told him of the Mystery that Mary his spouse held within her for a very high mission. She was to be the Mother of Jesus who would save His people from their sins. Joseph too has a mission regarding us. He tells us that was saves us is not many words, but silent immersion in God’s plans, although we cannot always understand them.
