FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD 33rd Friday of Ordinary Time November 22, 2019 WORD of the DAY Then Jesus entered the temple area and proceeded to drive out those who were selling things, saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves.’” And every day he was teaching in the temple area. The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people, meanwhile, were seeking to put him to death, but they could find no way to accomplish their purpose because all the people were hanging on his words.” (Luke 19: 45-48) How shall I live this Word? The logic of love cannot be held together with the logic of possession. And this above all in our heart. We too can run the risk of haggling in our lives, of remaining tied to thoughts of merit, of buying and selling – even towards God – of having idols (money, thoughts, prejudices, illusions, deceptions …) so that they take the place of the one Lord.
