Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Sunday, March 3, 2019 WORD of the DAY Praise no one before he speaks, for it is then that people are tested. (Sirach 27: 7) How shall I live this Word? On this Sunday both the first reading and the Gospel deepen the theme of the word. Not that of God, but that of humans. In a sapiential way, according to a genre that is expressed in proverbs and brief sentences, the human word is analyzed here by how it is expressed and what it inspires. The word that emerges in a discussion, reveals the defects of those who are fighting, as if the discussion were a sieve that separates the good from the bad. The word that translates human reasoning is compared to the ceramics that the furnace (metaphor of the reasoning) has proved defective or perfect. The word in action is the revelation of the heart, mind, and soul of the people. It is a synthesis of what has been built, developed by each one.
