  FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD Saturday November 17, 2018 Thirty Second Week of Ordinary Time  WORD of the DAY   Beloved, you are faithful in all you do for the brothers, especially for strangers. (3  Jn: 1, 5)  How shall I live this Word? John, now advanced in years, writes to a certain Gaius, a Christian probably converted by him to the faith. The Word of John is a commendation. It also sheds light for us because it is a question of helping those who, in Christ, are brothers and sisters.  The interest falls above all on the phrase with which the passage we are commenting ends. Here it is: although strangers … Very short but explosive! It does not provoke dire predictions, but rather very positive considerations. First of all, the persons to whom John refers here are “brothers”: far more than acquaintances or friends, they are from the same family because, as the writer and the recipients of the letter, they are witnesses!
