THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT

  FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD December 17, 2017 Third Sunday of Advent       WORD of the DAY   O Wisdom, O holy Word of God, you govern all creation with your strong yet tender care: Come and show your people the way to salvation. (O Antiphon for Magnificat) How shall I live this Word? Today we begin the octave of Christmas that prepares us for the feast.  There are eight days before and eight days after to express the importance of this CHAIROS: the day inhabited by the mystery of the Incarnation. Today we have the O Antiphon of the Magnificat at Vespers.  The O Antiphons are ancient compositions that summarize in a few lines, the many passages of the Old Testament that recount the promise and are connected in the acronym – ERO CRAS –  I COME TOMORROW.  They are eight days of expectant invocation of Christ, God become human.  They are very beautiful and can help for silent prayer, memorizing them and repeating them silently in our heart.  It is also lovely to sing them chorally and thus solemnizing them in community prayer.
