34th Wednesday in Ordinary Time

FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD November 29, 2017 34th Wednesday in Ordinary Time       WORD of the DAY Remember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand, for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute. (Luke 21: 14-15) How shall I live this Word? After Jesus foretold the end of the world in dark and apocalyptic colors, He proposes some appropriate attitudes for facing such an emergency.  The disciples must not fear those who can kill the body.  This fear leads to the egoism; to the betrayal of Judas; to the denial of Peter; and to the flight of all the others.  We can lose ourselves in the attempt to save ourselves.  The promise of Jesus lies in the power of the Spirit whose gift of wisdom no one will know how to resist.  Thus, even the littlest and weakest among us will be able to overcome evil.  The Prayer of St. Theresa   Holy Spirit, soul of my soul, illumine me, draw me, make me know Your will and grant that I may always follow it.  __________________________________________________________________________________ Institute of the Daughters of Mary...
